We went to a place called ‘eel’s garden’ on the great reef protecting the Madang bay. I was surprised how comfortable I felt when gearing up and rolling backwards from the boat. It’s really fantastic to sink down metre by metre into the underwater world. This time neither sharks nor trigger fish were around, so we could enjoy fully the terrific reef environment. We swam through some cleaning areas, where cleaning fish are taking care of the bigger ones, swimming into their mouth for a thorough wash-wash. The coral itself on the reef wall are colorful and divers, filled with hundreds of fish in all coulours and shapes. Against the deep blue water it’s like a giant aquarium one is swimming in.

Waterworld
This morning I went for a dive with Jon and Honor together. For 100 Kina (25 EUR) we did not only get the tank and the transportation, but also all the other necessary equipment for such a dive. Lesley even went with us, as I am a new diver and the others haven’t dived for quite some time.
